Colonial Style Bathroom
The Colonial Style bathroom has evolved from a gentler age and this is reflected in its signature features. The style is a hybrid of British style and that of the Empire’s colonies in India, the Caribbean, Africa and the Far East. The style is reminiscent of a bygone era and characterized by an efficient, unfussy, appearance.
Craftsmanship was a key element of colonial life and natural wood is an almost universal element of most colonial bathroom designs. Benches and cabinets are most often made of high-quality hardwoods which were available in the original colonies. Sinks, baths and toilets tend to be white and contrast with the darker wood featured on cabinets or floors. Fixtures are often copper or oil-rubbed bronze, to create an historical feel.
